FORT WORTH, Texas - Junior Mark Smajstrla went 5-for-7 with two RBI's to lead
Texas Wesleyan to a doubleheader sweep of Sterling College Saturday afternoon
at LaGrave Field.
Texas Wesleyan (3-9) won
the first game, 6-1, as the Rams pulled away from a 1-1 tie, with five-run sixth
inning, highlighted by a two-run homer from junior Nathan Murrell. Smajstrla also
singled in
two runs and Eric Vaughn added the RBI. They scored the five runs, collecting
six hits off of Warrior starting pitcher Jesus Rodriguez.
Freshman
Drew Jeffcoat (2-0) threw a complete-game, two-hitter, while striking out eight
batters.
In game two, the Rams scored two
runs in the second inning, and hung on for the 2-1 victory with some key pitching.
Junior
David Hinson (1-1) pitched five innings, allowing just four hits to pick up the
victory, while Smajstrla came in to strike out the last two to pick up his first
career save.
Junior Anthony Bolivar went
4-for-5 with two runs scored and one RBI.
Texas
Wesleyan has now won three of its last four games.

Wesleyan will be back in action Monday when the host Johnson and Wales for a doubleheader
at LaGrave Field. First-pitch is set for 1 p.m.
