MARSHALL, Texas - The Lady Ram
softball team traveled up to Marshall, Texas to take part in the
East Texas Baptist University Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
Texas Wesleyan lost two games against East Texas Baptist and won
two against LeTourneau to go 2-2 in the tournament.
In the first game against LeTourneau
(1-8), freshman Amanda Milam (1-1) pitched four innings, giving
up just two runs on only one hit while striking out four to pick
up the 12-2 victory. The Wolfforth, Texas native, also went 2-for-2
with a homerun and three RBI's.
Junior Danah Merck also helped lead
the offensive attack by going 2-for-5 with a double and driving
in three runs. The Burleson, Texas native, also scored three runs
for the Lady Rams.
In the second game against LeTourneau,
freshmen Rachel Lamont (2-0) pitched a complete game, giving up
seven runs on nine hits while striking out three. Senior Kamie Lancaster
led the Lady Ram offense going 2-for-4 and driving in four runs.
Three of Lancaster's four RBI's came in the team's six run inning
in the bottom of the third.
LeTourneau, down 9-0 after three innings,
scored seven runs in the last four innings of play only to fall
short as Texas Wesleyan won, 9-7.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action
Tuesday, when they travel to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State
in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at the Southwestern Sports
Complex.
