Texas - The Texas Wesleyan baseball team split a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon
with Paul Quinn in Red River Conference action. The Tigers took game one, 4-1,
while the Rams' bats
awoke in game two for a 16-7 victory. In
game one, Paul Quinn (6-9, 1-1 RRAC) scored two unearned runs off of three Ram
errors and held Texas Wesleyan to only five hits. Tiger starting pitcher Brandon
Beadle threw a complete game, allowing just one run, while striking out five Ram
batters. Freshman Eric Cartmill (1-2) picked
suffered the loss, allowing four runs, two of which were earned, while striking
out four batters. In game two, Texas Wesleyan
(16-15, 3-2 RRAC) banged out 21 hits and scored 13 runs in the six innings, after
falling behind 4-3, after three innings. David
Hinson (3-2) allowed seven runs, four of which were earned, while striking out
six batters in his complete-game victory. Senior
Anthony Bolivar led the Rams, going 5-for-8 with three runs scored. Freshman Zachary
Smith went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored off of the bench in game two.
Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Wednesday when they host conference-rival Paul
Quinn in the series finale. The single game is set for 2 p.m. at Sycamore Park.
