FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas
Wesleyan outfielder Jason Diaz was named Red River Athletic Conference
player of the week by the conference office on Tuesday.
Diaz, a freshman outfielder from Fort Worth,
Texas, was 10-for-22 at the plate last week (.454) as Texas Wesleyan
went 4-4. He scored a run in the Rams 4-3 win over Oklahoma City
University to start the week, and he went 2-for-4 in a loss to William
Jewell College (Mo.). He capped the week by going 4-for-4 with two
RBI in a 9-3 win over College of the Southwest. For the week, Diaz
scored four runs and drove in four others. On the season, he leads
the team in hitting (.440), walks (20) and on-base percentage (.592).
He has reached base in 20 of his last 22 games. Texas Wesleyan is
now 15-14, and 2-1 in the RRAC.
Texas Wesleyan will be back in action Tuesday,
when they travel to take on conference-rival Paul Quinn in Dallas.
The doubleheader is set to begin at 1 p.m.
