     WAXAHACHIE, Texas -
The Texas Wesleyan baseball team used a strong pitching performance by sophomore Shea Harrison and poured it on offensively to defeat Southwestern Assemblies of God, 16-6, Friday evening in Red River Conference play.

Texas Wesleyan (18-15, 5-2 RRAC) won the game by the 10-run rule, as it ended in the eighth inning. The Rams were led by freshman Drew Jeffcoat who was 3-for-5 with four RBI, while senior Eric Vaughn went 3-for-6 with four RBI as well. Senior Derek Armstrong also chipped in, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Sophomore Travis Clifford scored four runs for the Rams on the night.

"Our guys came out to play tonight," head coach Mike Jeffcoat said. "We got a lot of timely hits tonight. The guys are becoming really disciplined at the plate."

Harrison (3-3) picked up the victory allowing no runs on three hits, while walking one and striking out six batters in five innings of work.

"We got off to a rough start this season but the guys didn't panic," Jeffcoat said. "They knew we were going to get better and they just kept working hard."

Texas Wesleyan will wrap up the series Saturday when they take on conference-rival Southwestern Assemblies of God. The doubleheader is set for 12 p.m. in Waxahachie, Texas at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.
