MUSKOGEE, Texas - The Texas Wesleyan
softball team suffered heartbreaking losses to conference-rival
Bacone College in a doubleheader, Friday afternoon in Muskogee,
Oklahoma. The Lady Rams lost a hard fought first game, 5-3, and
struggled offensively in the second game, losing 9-2.
In game one, Lady Ram starting pitcher
Tara Sharp (6-4) had a strong outing on the mound throwing six innings
allowing five runs on seven hits. Sharp also provided most of the
team's offense going 3-for-3 with a single, two doubles, and three
RBI.
With the game tied at 1-1, the nationally-ranked
Lady Warriors (30-4-1, 8-2 RRAC) tallied four runs in the bottom
of the third inning. Texas Wesleyan managed only two runs over the
next four innings as Bacone College went on to win, 5-3.
In game two, Texas Wesleyan (14-13,
4-2 RRAC) struggled offensively managing only two runs on four hits
as the Lady Rams lost, 9-2. Starting pitcher, Rachel Lamont (3-3),
allowed nine runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
The Lady Rams will be back in action
Tuesday afternoon when they travel to take on rival Northwood University
in conference play. The doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m.
