TYLER, Texas - The Texas Wesleyan
softball team split a doubleheader against conference-rival Texas
College, Tuesday afternoon in their first meeting of the season.
The Lady Rams, in a close battle, lost the first game 3-2, but fought
back taking the second game 12-8.
In game one, Lady Ram starting pitcher
Tara Sharp (6-10) allowed only three runs in six innings of work
but the team's offense could only manage to score two runs, both
coming in the first inning. Sophomore Amanda Macuch helped to lead
the Lady Rams going 2-for-3 with a double and a single. Texas Wesleyan
(18-23, 6-10 RRAC) did manage to score two runs on eight hits in
the losing effort.
In the night cap, starting pitcher
Rachel Lamont (5-5) picked the win allowing eight runs in seven
effective innings. The Lady Rams knocked in 12 runs and compiled
19 hits against Texas College to take the second game 12-8. Texas
Wesleyan scored early on designated player Tara Sharp's three-run
inside-the-park homerun in the top of the first inning. Second baseman
Danah Merck also helped the Lady Rams going 3-for-4 with a solo
inside-the-park homerun. Macuch continued her hitting attack in
the second game going 3-for-4, she finished the day 5-for-7.
The Lady Rams will be back in action
Thursday when they host Southeastern Oklahoma State in a doubleheader.
The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
