FORT WORTH, Texas - The Texas
Wesleyan softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against
NCAA Division II, Southeastern Oklahoma State University Thursday
afternoon at Sycamore Park. The Lady Rams were blown out in the
first game, 14-2, and were held to just one hit in their 7-0 loss
lost the first game 3-2, but fought back taking the second game
12-8.
Lady Ram pitcher Rachel Lamont (5-7)
started both games of the doubleheader against the Lady Savages.
In game one, Lamont only lasted one inning and faced six batters
in the second. The Springtown, Texas native, allowed six runs on
four hits while walking three batters.
After pitching a scoreless first
inning, Lamont walked the leadoff batter to start the second inning.
After giving up a double, Rachel then walked the next two batters
that drove in the first run. Then after a RBI single to drive in
another run, Lamont gave up a damaging grand slam homerun by Lady
Savage, Kylie Ferguson to put the visiting team up 6-0. Maria Morones
relieved Rachel Lamont and got out of the inning.
Southeastern Oklahoma State (26-17)
put up eight more runs over the next two innings in their 14-2 run-rule
rout of Texas Wesleyan. Wesleyan managed to score two runs in the
bottom of the fourth inning off Michelle Perez's RBI groundout that
scored Amanda Macuch and a fielding error that scored Jennifer Perez.
In game two, Texas Wesleyan (18-25)
committed four errors and managed only one hit as the Lady Rams
lost, 7-0. Lady Savage starting pitcher Carly Goodnight took a perfect
game into the sixth inning but a Rachel Hampton one-out double spoiled
her bit. Hampton's double would be the only hit of the game for
the Lady Rams.
The Lady Rams only managed five hits
in the two games.
The Lady Rams will be back in action
Saturday when they host conference-rival UT-Permian Basin in a doubleheader.
The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
