CEDAR HILL, Texas -
The Texas Wesleyan baseball team lost its opening-round game to Bacone College,
15-6, in the Red River Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
Bacone
College (44-12), the tournament's number two seed, banged out 15 hits off of four
Ram pitchers on its way to victory. Texas Wesleyan (25-27) had nine hits themselves,
but was wasted as they fell into the loser's bracket.
Shortstop
Corey Stansell led the Rams, going 3-for-4 with a double, home run, one run scored
and three RBI. Catcher Jason Diaz and first baseman Drew Jeffcoat both had two
hits for the Rams.
Freshman Eric Cartmill
(3-3) suffered the loss for Texas Wesleyan allowing eight runs on eight hits,
while walking four and striking out six batters in five innings of work.
Texas
Wesleyan will be back in action Thursday when they take on Texas College in an
elimination game. The game is set to begin at 9:30 a.m. at Northwood University
in Cedar Hill, Texas.
