HOUSTON, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball (4-7, 2-1 RRAC) team was in hostile territory on Saturday when they traveled to Red River Athletic Conference rival Houston Baptist University (9-2, 6-0). The 12th ranked Huskies remained unbeaten against Texas Wesleyan by taking an 85-39 win.
Midway through the first half, Texas Wesleyan trailed 16-10 when HBU hit its stride. The Huskies scored 11 unanswered points and closed the half on a 25-8 run to take a commanding 41-18 lead to the locker room.
The Lady Rams were unable to slow the onslaught in the second half. Houston Baptist out shot Texas Wesleyan 46%-22% on their way to the 85-39 win.
Stephanie Reder led the Lady Rams with 12 points to go with six rebounds. HBU’s Sherill Hadrick led all scorers with 24 points while Dominique Thomas added 19.
The Lady Rams will put the loss behind them quickly as they continue RRAC action on Monday, January 9, when they travel to Austin, TX, to take on Huston-Tillotson University. That game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a men’s game.
