WACO, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference has selected Texas Wesleyan University’s Britney Helton as its Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for period of January 16-22.
Helton, a junior guard from Stephenville, Texas, poured in 36 points and grabbed 13 boards as the Lady Rams won a pair of conference games last week. She narrowly missed a double-double performance with 12 points and nine rebounds en route to a 70-60 win over UT-Permian Basin. Helton followed that with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field to lead TWU to a 74-54 victory over Paul Quinn College (Texas). She made 12-of-24 field goal attempts, 5-of-7 three-point attempts and 7-of-8 free throws on the week.
After a win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University last night, the Lady Rams are in second place in the RRAC at 7-1 with an overall mark of 9-7. They Lady Rams will host Texas College on Wednesday, January 25. That game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center. |
