RAMS TOP PATS, 12-6

TYLER, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (2-0) took a 12-6 win over UT-Tyler on Monday.

The Rams took a 4-1 lead after scoring single runs in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings.  However, UT-Tyler would make the Rams work for the victory.  The Patriots scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.

Texas Wesleyan responded with four runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to seal the win.

Jason Diaz and Brandon Frazier led the Rams at the plate.  Diaz went 2-3 with a 2B, RBI, 2 SB’s and 3 runs.  Frazier went 3-4 with a 2B, RBI, SB.  Travis Clifford and Antoine Cole each went 2-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Haden Lackey (1-0) took the win for Texas Wesleyan allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings of work.  Nat Harris (0-1) took the loss after allowing 2 runs on 2 hits in an inning of work.

Texas Wesleyan returns to play on Thursday, when they host a double-header with Oklahoma Baptist.  Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at LaGrave Field.
