TWO LADY RAMS NAMED ALL-RRAC
March 4, 2006

DALLAS, TX:  A pair of seniors from the Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team were awarded All-Red River Athletic Conference Honors for their outstanding play this season.

Shawndrika Courtney (Sr., Euless, TX) has capped an outstanding career with an outstanding senior season, and was rewarded as a 1st-team All-RRAC selection.  She was named RRAC Player of the Week in January after scoring 27 points and grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds in a win over TAMIU (1/14), her first full game after missing three contests due to a broken finger.  She garnered the award again after posting consecutive double-doubles with 24 points and 17 rebounds against Huston-Tillotson (2/13) and 17 points and 19 rebounds against TAMIU (2/16).  She led the team with 12.1 points per game, 26 blocks, 8.6 rebounds per game, and 51.3% shooting.  She reached double-figures in scoring 17 times this season and recorded nine double-doubles.  Courtney is Texas Wesleyan’s career leader with 118 blocked shots and her 1,348 career points rank 5th in school history.

Tiffany Hill (Sr., Mesquite, TX) had an outstanding senior season and was named 2nd-team All-RRAC.  The point guard led the team with a career-high 137 assists, 81 steals, and 27.8 minutes per game.  She recorded a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 10 steals against Huston-Tillotson (1/9).  She just missed double-doubles with 9 assists and 10 rebounds against Jarvis Christian (1/28) and 9 points, 7 assists, and 16 rebounds against Texas College (2/2).  During a stretch of eight games (1/19-2/4) she averaged 6.9 assists per game.  She reached double-figures in scoring 7 times and recorded 5 or more assists on 12 occasions.

Courtney and Hill led the Rams to a 15-15 record.  At 13-7 in conference play, they finished fourth in the Red River Athletic Conference regular season standings.
