LADY RAMS SPLIT WITH DRAGONS
March 8, 2006

BOX 1

BOX 2

PARIS, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (8-6) split an exhibition doubleheader at Paris Junior College on Wednesday.  The Lady Rams took game one 10-3, but the Dragons took game two 10-9.

In game one, the Rams scored early and often.  Marie Stone set the tone with a three-run home run in the first inning.  Texas Wesleyan went on to score in every inning except the third.

The Dragons plated two in the first on a Brandi Dalme home run, but, by the time they scored their third run in the fifth, the game was out of reach at 7-3.

Devin Blew (3-1) earned the win by tossing four innings and allowing only one run on seven hits.  Brittany Strickland suffered the loss after allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 12 hits in six innings pitched.

Alicia Wylie went 2-4 with three runs scored.  Ariel Raley and Elizabeth Brady each contributed three hits.

In game two, the Lady Rams found themselves trailing 9-1 entering the fifth inning.  In the fifth, Lindsey Molinar singled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Alicia Wylie to bring the score to 9-2.

Things got interesting in the sixth.  Texas Wesleyan plated four runs on four hits, including a Marie Stone home run, to cut the score to 9-6.  The Dragons came back with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Texas Wesleyan continued to rally in the seventh.  Stone ripped a leadoff double, and Brady followed with an RBI-single.  Tara Sharp then blasted a two-run homer, and the Rams trailed by just one.  Rachel Hampton then reached on an error, but was stranded at second, and the Lady Rams fell 10-9.

Rachel Lamont (1-2) took the loss after allowing eight runs (six earned) on 10 hits in 3.1 innings pitched.  Wylie went 2-3 with a run and two RBI while Brady was 2-4 with two RBI.

The Lady Rams return to action on Friday, when they travel to Shawnee, OK, for the Oklahoma Baptist Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
