FORT WORHT, TX: The third ranked Texas Wesleyan University golf team rallied for a third place finish in the UST Texas Intercollegiate, an event they host at Hawks Creek Golf Course.
Oklahoma Christian won the event with a 54-hole score of 869. Southern Nazarene’s Blake Trimble was the individual medalist with a card of 214.
Texas Wesleyan sat in fifth place with a score of 297 after round one. However, in round three, they shot the second best round of the tournament, 286, to rally for a third place finish behind the University of Mobile (884) and OCU.
The Rams shot 886, and were led by Lance Vasquez’s card of 217 which was good for 4th place, just three shots behind Trimble. Kevin Doskocil and Justin Smith each shot 223 (T14th), while Mitch Hendon shot 228 (T33rd), and Reino Deetlefs finished at 232 (T44th) to round out the Rams scores.
The Texas Wesleyan JV team shot 304 to finish seventh in the field of 18 teams. Ryan Stephenes shot a 223 (T14th), Dan Hahn 224 (T20th), Billy Privette 230 (39th), Will Woodring 231 (T40th) and Bronson Kalilikane 240 (T70th) for the JV squad.
The Rams are back in action March 27-28 at the Sleep Inn & Suites Classic at River Oaks in Edmond, OK.
