HARRISON, PIASKOWSKI NAME P.O.W.
March 28, 2006

WACO, TX:  Jeff Piaskowski of Texas Wesleyan University and Jessee of Huston-Tillotson University (TX) were chosen as Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week for March 20-26, while Shea Harrison of TWU and Omar Gutierrez of HT both earned a share of the RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor for the same dates.

Piaskowski, a senior right fielder from Pleasanton, Calif., drove in six runs in three games as TWU won all four of its match-ups last week. Piaskowski was 6-for-9 at the plate with a pair of homers and six RBIs for his part, including a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored and an RBI in an 8-1 win over Sterling College (KS) to start the week. He closed with a home run and 4 RBIs to knock off Central Christian College (KS), 11-4. TWU now has a 13-9 record on the season.

Harrison, a senior pitcher from Arlington, Texas, tossed a complete game shutout against Central Christian College (KS). He earned a 2-0 victory by scattering six hits and striking out seven hitters with no walks. Harrison only allowed two runners to reach second base in the entire game as he increased his record to 3-1 on the season and lowered his ERA to 0.41.

Jessee, a senior third baseman from Seguin, Texas, posted a .740 on base percentage (20-for- 27) as HTU rolled through a 6-1 week. Jessee went 4-for-4 with 4 RBI’s in a 16-0 win over Jarvis Christian College (Texas), the middle game of a three-game sweep to open conference play. He also went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in the Rams’ first game of the week, an 8-6 loss to Doane College (Neb.). In all, Jessee was 13-of-20 hitting (.650) with seven runs, nine RBIs, seven walks and four doubles. HT is now 3-0 in the RRAC with a 13-11 mark overall.

Gutierrez, a freshman pitcher from Sinton, Texas, hurled a complete game one-hitter in his only outing of the week for the 16-0 win over JCC. He allowed just one walk and struck out 12 batters en route to the victory. Gutierrez has now registered 25 strikeouts in 16 innings of work.
