RAMS BACK IN THE WIN COLUMN
April 10, 2006

MARSHALL, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (16-16) snapped a four game losing skid with an impressive offensive outburst against East Texas Baptist University (22-11-1) on Monday.  The Rams’ bats came alive as they smashed five home runs and scored in nearly every inning on their way to a 17-9 win.

Brandon Frazier gave the Rams a 1-0 lead with a home run in the first inning.  Texas Wesleyan then scored three in the second and third, and two in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead.

East Texas Baptist threatened to make things interesting when they plated four run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Rams responded with three more runs in the fifth to regain command at 12-4.

Texas Wesleyan scored three in the seventh and two in the ninth to account for their 17 runs.

Jordan Jones improved to 2-0 on the year by tossing six innings and allowing five runs.

Frazier went 3-5 with a home run and 3 RBI.  Travis Clifford went deep twice to take the team lead at seven on the season, while Jeff Piaskowski and Josh Vander Hey also homered for the Rams.

Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Tuesday when they host a doubleheader with Mary Hardin-Baylor.  The Rams and Crusaders split a twin bill in Belton, TX, last week.  Game one of tomorrow’s doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. at LaGrave Field.
