FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University Baseball team (26-19, 8-5 RRAC) moved one step closer to jumping into the second position in the Red River Athletic Conference North Division. The Rams took a 15-2 win over Paul Quinn (3-17, 1-12) at LaGrave Field on Wednesday.
In the first inning, the Tigers took advantage of a Texas Wesleyan error to plate one run. In the bottom of the frame however, the Rams used three singles, a walk, and seven stolen bases to take a 4-1 lead.
Paul Quinn brought the score to 4-2 when Justin Johnson hit a one-out single in the third and later scored on a groundout from Johnathan Thomas. Chris Palmer gave the Rams a 7-2 cushion in the bottom of the third when he drilled a Sandor Lister offering over the grandstand in right field for a three-run shot.
In the fourth, a single from Brandon Frazier and doubles from Zach Archer and Billie Hicks brought the score to 10-2. In the fifth, the Rams sent eleven men to the plate and scored five more runs on three hits and five walks.
Shea Harrison (6-3) earned the win by tossing all seven innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out a career-high 13 batters.
Brandon Frazier and Zach Archer led the Rams offense with three hits a piece while Chris Palmer finished with four RBI.
The same two teams will wrap up their three-game series with a doubleheader on Thursday. Game one is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be played at Sycamore Park.
