HOUSTON, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference announced today the 2006 All-Red River Conference baseball team, and seven members of the Texas Wesleyan squad were among those honored.
Left-handed pitcher Shea Harrison was named 1st-team All-Conference and Pitcher of the Year. Harrison currently holds a 6-4 record and a 2.14 ERA. He was named conference Pitcher of the Week three times this season and had a stretch of 21 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
Outfielder Zach Archer, who leads the team with a .405 batting average, and pitcher Weston Wood, who has struck out 67 batters in 66.1 innings, joined Harrison on the 1st-team.
Catcher Josh Vander Hey, outfielder Brandon Frazier, and pitchers Jason Hopson and Hayden Lackey were each named to the 2nd-team.
The Rams were defeated 10-5 today in the Red River Athletic conference championship game, but their season will continue as they have qualified for next week’s NAIA Region VI Tournament. The Rams will begin play in the six-team regional on Wednesday in Plainview, TX.
