OLATHE, KS: On a day when only six teams shot better than ten over par, 8th ranked Texas Wesleyan fell four positions into a tie for 15th at the NAIA Men’s Golf National Tournament. Oklahoma City continues to lead the team competition with an overall score of 582.
Point Loma Nazarene’s Joe Prince shot a two under par 70 in round two to move into the individual lead with an overall score of 139.
Johnson & Wales (FL) made the biggest move of the day, jumping from 14th all the way into a tie for 3rd by shooting even par on the day.
Reino Deetlefs led the Rams by shooting one-over 74. That puts Deetlefs even with Lance Vasquez who sits at 151 after two rounds. Ryan Stephens and Mitch Hendon are at 152 and 153 after shooting 75 and 78 respectively in round two.
The field of 28 teams and 144 individuals will be cut to 17 teams and 40 golfers after tomorrow’s third round. Texas Wesleyan’s third round competition will begin at 8:45 a.m. when Justin Smith tees off at hole number one.
