FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (4-3, 2-0) took a 6-0 win over Wiley College (0-1, 0-1) in Red River Athletic Conference action at Martin Field on Wednesday.
Texas Wesleyan controlled the ball throughout the game and out shot the Wildcats 42-6.
Jose Melendez started the scoring in the 8th minute with an assist from Rene Mercado. Christian Villasenor scored his first of a pair of goals in the 26th minute, and the Rams led 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, the Rams scored twice in the first 12 minutes with goals from Villasenor and Seth Mullins. They would add scores from Nathan Mutchler and John Kuethe for the 6-0 final.
“We were more relaxed in the second half in the 2nd half and were able to finish,” said Head Coach Steve Jones. “Their keeper made some good saves that kept the score down, but we had some young players get the opportunity to play and they performed well.”
The Rams will return to action on Friday, September 30, when they host Texas College in a Red River Athletic Conference match. That game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will be preceded by a women’s game.
