RAMS TOP FALCONS, 3-0

FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (16-3, 9-0 RRAC) won its 15th consecutive match on Friday.  The Lady Rams topped Red River Athletic Conference foe UT-Permian Basin (13-9, 6-3) 3-0 with scores of 30-27, 30-22, and 30-21.

Texas Wesleyan built an eight point lead at 19-11 in game one, but the Falcons closed the gap with a 6-1 run to pull within three at 20-17.  From there the game remained tight throughout, and the Falcons fought through three game points before succumbing 30-27.

In game two, the Rams jumped out to a 12-4 lead and led by as many as ten (25-15).  Again the Falcons battled back and cut the deficit to four at 26-22, but it was not enough as Texas Wesleyan closed out the game 30-22.

The Rams used the same formula of get ahead, stay ahead, in game three.  Back-to-Back aces from Sandra Ayala gave Texas Wesleyan an eight-point lead at 14-6.  The Lady Rams continued to pour it on and led by as many as eleven en route to the 30-21 win.

Misty Tarbet led the Rams with 13 kills while Bela Gaulberto added 12 of her own.  Whitney Johansen registered 38 assists.  Four Lady Rams reached double-digits in digs.  Susan Taylor had 19, Sandra Ayala 15, Ashley Mock 14, and Johansen 10.

The Lady Rams have won each of their last 42 games and are just two shy of the school record of 44 set last season.  They will take a shot at that record tomorrow when they host College of the Southwest in another Red River Athletic Conference match.  That match is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.
