FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (18-3, 11-0 RRAC) won its 17th consecutive match on Saturday. The Lady Rams defeated Bacone College (2-20, 0-9) 3-0 with scores of 30-12, 30-11, and 30-7.
In game one, the Rams jumped ahead 12-1 and never looked back en route to the 30-12 win. Game two remained tight at 10-7, but Texas Wesleyan went on a 10-2 run and pulled away for a 30-11 win. The Rams poured it on in game three, holding the Warriors to single digits at 30-7.
Susan Taylor just missed her own record for service aces in a match. Taylor finished with 12 aces to go with 8 digs. Taylor’s single-match record set in 2002 still stands at 13. Rachel Loftin and Sandra Ayala each recorded 9 kills. Ayala added 8 digs while Loftin recorded 4 aces. Whitney Johansen turned in a steady game with 32 assists.
The Lady Rams return to action on Tuesday when they host UT-Tyler and Paul Quinn College. Those matches are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively in the Sid Richardson Center. |
