DALLAS, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference announced the 2005 men’s soccer All-Conference team today. The three leading scorers for the Texas Wesleyan men’s soccer team were among those selected. Christian Villasenor and Jose Melendez were both 1st-team selections, while Seth Mullins was named to the 2nd-team.
Only a sophomore, Villasenor has already become Texas Wesleyan’s career points leader with 76 points on 35 goals and 6 assists. This season he has led the team with 10 goals and 24 points and has tallied at least four points on five separate occasions.
Melendez, a senior midfielder from El Paso, TX, was named 1st-team All-RRAC for the second consecutive year. He ranks second on the squad with seven goals and 16 points.
A freshman midfielder, Mullins has made an immediate impact for the Rams. He ranks third on the team with five goals and 14 points while ranking second with four assists.
The trio will lead the Rams into semifinal action at the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday. The Rams will face College of the Southwest at 3:00 p.m. in Laredo, TX. |
