FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (4-12, 2-4 RRAC) suffered a 66-54 loss at the hands of Wiley College (7-6, 3-4) in the Sid Richardson Center on Saturday.
The Rams shot 56% in the first half and led most of the way, but in the final three minutes of the period Wiley out scored Texas Wesleyan 15-4 and led 35-29 at the break.
In the second half, the Wildcats held the Rams to just 28% shooting from the floor. In the first ten minutes, Wiley went on an 18-3 run to extend their lead to 21 points at 53-32. A bucket from Pilar Pinkus sparked an 11-0 run for Texas Wesleyan, but the Rams were unable to cut the deficit to single-digits. The Wildcats extended their lead to 17 at 62-46 with 4:54 on the clock. From there Wiley cruised to the 66-54 win.
The Rams shot 41% in the game, but lost the battle-of-the boards 42-31, and gave up 11 second chance points on 16 offensive rebounds for the Wildcats.
Kim Gatlin led the Lady Rams with 15 points while Brittany Champion just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Nicole Posley led four Wildcats in double-figure scoring with a game-high 21 points.
The Lady Rams are back in action on Monday, when they travel to Hawkins, TX, to take on Jarvis Christian College. That game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. |
