MOORE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (8-12) improved to 4-1 all-time against Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College (11-15) with a convincing win on Monday. The Lady Rams ran their current winning streak to four games by topping the Lady Saints 65-38.
The Rams came out executing offensively and defensively. They started the game on an 11-0 run and held the Saints scoreless for over six minutes. Texas Wesleyan led by as many as 14 points, 22-8, with just over five minutes remaining, and their lead remained in double figures, 27-17, at halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Rams quickly pushed their lead to 20 points at 43-23. From there they steadily pulled away for the convincing 65-38 win.
Texas Wesleyan held Hillsdale to just 26% shooting from the floor. They also forced 24 turnovers that led to 23 points on the offensive end.
Nastassia Brown turned in her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kim Gatlin poured in 15 points, while Pilar Pinkus finished with 10 for the Lady Rams. Keegan Harry just missed a double-double with nine points and eight boards.
Hillsdale was led by Amber Vickers’ 13 points. Danielle Scott finished with seven points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Saints.
Texas Wesleyan returns to the court on Wednesday, when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College. That game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. |
