HAMPTON SETS SCHOOL RBI MARK:

NAMED RRAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK

FORT WORTH, TX:  Rachel Hampton led her Texas Wesleyan University softball team to a doubleheader split at Hardin-Simmons University last week.  Her home run and six RBI not only stretched her current school record of 31 career home runs, but set a new mark of 130 career RBI.  The senior left fielder was named Red River Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for her performance.

Hampton, a senior from Fort Worth, TX, went 7-for-9 at the plate for the week.  In a 10-9 loss in the opening game, Hampton went 3-for-5 with a double and RBI.  In game two, she went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBI while leading the Rams to a 15-2 win.

Hampton has proven herself to be one of the greatest power hitters ever to wear the Texas Wesleyan uniform.  She set the school’s home run record last season after ripping 16 bombs.  Last season she knocked in a single season record 61 runs.  She also owns the school’s single game record with six RBI (vs. Col. of St. Mary’s 3/8/05) while knocking in five on three occasions, and has matched the school’s single game record with two home runs twice.
