FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University women’s basketball team (11-16, 8-8 RRAC) suffered a 49-33 loss at the hands of Jarvis Christian College (12-10, 10-6) in the Sid Richardson Center on Wednesday.

Texas Wesleyan held the Bulldogs to just 35% shooting in the game, but Jarvis’ defense allowed just 21% shooting and forced 26 turnovers.

The Bulldogs led 35-21 five minutes into the second half when Texas Wesleyan put a run together.  A Nastassia Brown jumper and a three from Kim Gatlin started an 8-0 run that brought the game within reach at 35-29 midway through the period.

Unfortunately the Rams could not score in the next seven minutes and found themselves down 42-31.

Jarvis scored 22 points off Texas Wesleyan turnovers and got 24 points from their bench while the Texas Wesleyan bench contributed just 10 points, including six from Pilar Pinkus.

Nastassia Brown led the Rams with 12 points, while Keegan Harry finished with 11.  Louise Ukele and Lacy Monroe each scored nine for the Bulldogs.

Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday when they host Langston University.  That game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center.
