DURANT, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (2-11) dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State University (12-8) on Tuesday. The Savage Storm topped the Lady Rams 12-0 in game one and 8-5 in game two.
In the first game, Carly Goodnight (7-4) and Rachel Still combined on a no-hitter. Goodnight went three innings while striking out seven while Still tossed the last two innings, striking out one and walking one.
Michelle Jones (0-4) suffered the loss after Southeastern struck for eight runs on six hits in the first 1.1 innings.
Lindsey Molinar led off game two with a single. She stole second and gave the Rams a 1-0 lead when she scored on a single from Tara Sharp.
The Savage Storm came back with two in the first and another in the second, but an RBI double from Rachel Hampton in the third and a leadoff homer from Elizabeth Brady in the fourth tied the game at three.
The game remained tied until Southeastern converted three Texas Wesleyan errors into four unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Lady Rams loaded the bases with no outs in the seventh, but could only score two with RBI from Ariel Raley and Sharp.
Alicia Mendoza (0-4) was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs (four earned) on nine hits in six innings. Jami McAdo (5-3) earned the win after allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out seven in seven innings of work.
The Lady Rams will return to action on Wednesday, March 7, in their home opener. Texas Wesleyan will host Southern Nazarene in a doubleheader at Sycamore Park. Game one is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. |
