Box Score - Game One

Box Score - Game Two

FORT WORTH, TX:  After starting the season on a 13-game road swing, the Texas Wesleyan University softball team (3-12) finally came home.  The Rams split a doubleheader with Southern Nazarene University (6-8) at Sycamore Park on Wednesday.

In game one, Brooke McNabb put the Lady Rams on top with a solo-homer in the first inning.  Rachel Hampton led off the second with her 32nd career home run.  Elizabeth Brady then doubled and later scored on a ground ball from Alyssa Cherry to give Texas Wesleyan a 3-0 lead.

The Crimson Storm loaded the bases with one out in the top of the third and plated three runs to knot the game at three.

In the fifth, Angel Castro ripped a leadoff double and scored the go-ahead run on a grounder from McNabb.  That 4-3 lead held up until the seventh.  RBI singles from Nikki Kelley and Katie Snodgrass delivered a 5-4 win for Southern Nazarene.

Alicia Mendoza (0-5) took the loss after allowing two runs on six hits in 3.2 innings of work.  Kelly Moore earned the win after allowing one run on three hits in six innings pitched.

In game two, the Rams got an unearned run in the first, but Southern Nazarene tied the game with a home run from Andrea Frizell in the second.

Texas Wesleyan broke things open with three runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth.  A three-run homer from Tara Sharp in the third highlighted the offensive outburst.

Southern Nazarene got a two-run homer from Rosie Ashworth in the fifth, but could get no closer.

Ashley Oldham (2-1) worked all seven innings to get the win.  The freshman allowed three runs while scattering seven hits and striking out four.  Moore took the loss after giving up four runs on eight hits in 2.1 innings of work.

Rachel Hampton went 3-for-4 at the plate in game two.

The Lady Rams open Red River Athletic Conference play on Saturday when they travel to Houston, TX, to take on Houston Baptist University.  Game one is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
