LONGVIEW, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (17-4) pounded out 17 hits on their way to a 12-2 win at LeTourneau University (8-15) on Tuesday.

Billie Hicks led off the second inning with home run to get the Rams on the board.  J.R. Phelps led off the third with a double and scored on a Jason Diaz ground ball.  The Rams broke things open in the fourth.  Texas Wesleyan sent nine hitters to the plate in that inning and plated five runs to go up 7-0.  The rally was highlighted by a two-run double from Phelps and an RBI double from Josh Vander Hey.

The fifth inning started with another home run from Hicks, his second of the day and fifth of the season.  The Rams added one more to go ahead 9-0.

LeTourneau got a run on a sacrifice fly from Ryan Cook in the sixth, but the Rams scored three more in the eighth including RBI hits from Brad Henderson and Jeremy Howard.  The Yellow Jackets got an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth to complete the day’s scoring.

Jayson Rachuig (2-2) got the win after working three scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four and walking none.

Hicks led the 17-hit attack with a 3-for-3 day including two home runs.  Ryan Jacobi added three hits while Diaz, Vander Hey, Howard, and Phelps all ripped a pair of hits.
