FORT WORTH, TX:  The Texas Wesleyan University Softball team (7-16) swept a doubleheader against Dordt College (0-4) at Sycamore Park on Wednesday.  The Lady Rams defeated the Lady Defenders 10-5 in game one and 9-1 in game two.

Dordt took an early lead in game one when they scored two runs on two hits and an error in the first inning.  The Rams got on the board in the second with an RBI single from Elizabeth Brady.

The Lady Rams broke loose in the third inning.  A five-run rally was highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Maddie Williams and Elizabeth Brady.

The Defenders got a run on a home run from Amanda Pothoven in the fourth, but the Rams plated two more in the bottom of the inning.  Dordt got RBIs from Pothoven and Mandy Visser in the fifth to get within three at 8-5, but the Rams answered again with RBIs from Angel Castro and Rachel Bachelder in the sixth.

Ashley Oldham (4-3) got the win after allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits while striking out six in seven innings of work.

Castro went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI for the Rams.  Williams added three hits and three RBI.

In game two, Dordt used a pair of walks to score a run in the first.  Lindsey Molinar led off the bottom of the inning with a sharp single through the left side, advanced to second on an illegal pitch, stole third, and scored on a single from Brooke Mcnabb to tie the game at one.

Ariel Raley delivered a two-run homer in the third to give Texas Wesleyan at 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth, the Rams ended the game by batting around and scoring six runs on four hits including a walk-off two-run double from Molinar.

Tara Sharp (2-2) tossed all five innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out four.

Molinar went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.  Williams added two more hits, while Raley knocked in a pair.

Texas Wesleyan will return to action on Friday, when they travel to Muskogee, OK, to take on Bacone College.  That doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Lady Rams have also rescheduled last week’s meeting with Langston University.  That doubleheader at Sycamore Park will now be played on Monday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m.
