MUSKOGEE, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (8-17, 1-5 RRAC) split a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader at Bacone College (8-8, 8-4) on Friday. The Lady Rams took game one 11-5, but fell 7-2 in game two.
Ariel Raley got the Rams started on the right foot with her team-leading sixth home run of the year. Bacone plated two in the bottom of first to take a 2-1 lead.
Maddie Williams put the Rams on top with a two-run homer in the fourth, but Bacone answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at three.
In the fifth, the Rams scored five runs on a two-run single from Raley and a three-run homer from Elizabeth Brady.
Texas Wesleyan added an RBI single from Lindsey Molinar in the sixth and a two-run double from Williams in the seventh to put the game out of reach at 11-3. Bacone plated two in the bottom of the seventh for the 11-5 final.
Michelle Jones (2-5) allowed five runs, three earned, on ten hits, while striking out eight in seven innings of work. Lindsey Molinar went 3-for-4 for the Lady Rams while Raley and Alicia Mendoza each recorded a pair of hits. Maddie Williams went 2-for-4 with four RBI on the day.
Mendoza (0-7) took the loss in game two after allowing four runs on nine hits in three innings pitched. Brooke McNabb, Mendoza, and Brady each went 1-for-3 at the plate for Texas Wesleyan.
The Lady Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Langston, OK, to take on Langston University in a Red River Athletic Conference doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. |
