LANGSTON, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (10-17, 3-5 RRAC) took a pair of convincing wins at Langston University (0-8, 0-8) on Saturday. The Rams pounded out a total of 39 hits on their way to wins of 21-1 and 17-0.
In game one the Rams were just three runs shy of the school record. They scored 21 runs on 15 hits. Texas Wesleyan scored six in the first and put the game well out of reach with 11 in the second. They went on to plate three more in the third and one in the fifth.
Tara Sharp (3-2) allowed one run on two hits while striking out eight to pick up the win. At the plate she also went 4-for-5. Elizabeth Brady and Alyssa Cherry added three hits a piece.
Langston could not cool the Texas Wesleyan bats in game two as the Rams scored 17 runs on 20 hits.
The Rams scored four runs in the first, eight in the second, four in the first, and one in the fourth. Brooke McNabb, Maddie Williams, and Alicia Mendoza led the attack with three hits each while Sharp, Ariel Raley, Angel Castro, and Jazmine Boss each added a pair of hits.
Ashley Oldham (5-3) tossed a two-hit shutout, striking out eleven Lady Lions in five innings pitched.
The Rams and Lions will meet again on Monday in a doubleheader rescheduled from March 17. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Sycamore Park. |
