RAMS GET WIN NUMBER 30
April 14, 2007

Box Score

FORT WORTH, TX:  The 15th ranked Texas Wesleyan Baseball team garnered it’s 30th win of the season on Saturday while improving to 10-0 in Red River Athletic Conference play, 30-6 overall, with a 17-4 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (9-21, 3-4 RRAC).  This marks the fourth 30-win season in the last five seasons under head coach Mike Jeffcoat.

The Rams, who fell from 8th to 15th in the NAIA National Poll after going 2-1 last week, sent nine men to the plate in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings.

After the Lions took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, the Rams got three runs in the bottom of the frame with an RBI triple from Brad Henderson and run-scoring singles from Ryan Ragsdale and Jason Diaz.

The Lions regained the lead with two more runs in the third, but the Rams took advantage of four walks and two SAGU errors to plate five runs in the bottom of the inning.  Aaron Wimpee came on in relief of Weston Wood and shut the Lions down for two innings, while the Rams rattled off nine runs on eight hits in the fourth and fifth innings.

Henderson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and four runs scored.  Jason Diaz also went 3-for-4 on the day while Antoine Cole was 3-for-3 with four runs scored.  Ross Elmore hit his first home run of the year into a strong wind in the fifth inning.

Wimpee (2-0) allowed just two hits while striking out one in two innings pitched.  Matt Chutchian finished the game with two scoreless innings of work.

The Rams and Lions will complete their three-game series with a doubleheader at LaGrave Field on Sunday.  Game one is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.

In other scheduling changes the game scheduled with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahom on Monday, April 16, as well as the doubleheader scheduled at Huston-Tillotson University on April 26 have been canceled.
