FORT WORTH, TX:  In an anticipated match-up of 30-win team’s, the 11th ranked Texas Wesleyan University baseball team (33-6, 13-0 RRAC) took the first game of a three-game set with conference rival Bacone College (30-18, 10-2) by a score of 8-2 on Friday.

The Rams got RBI doubles from Josh Vander Hey and Chris Palmer to take a 2-0 lead in the first.  A homerun from Logan Stinson made it 2-1 in the second, but the Rams plated three runs on three singles and an RBI double from Victor Burgos in the third.

In the forth inning, the Warriors’ Joel Torres ripped a one-out triple and scored to bring the score to 5-3.

Jason Diaz turned a leadoff walk in the seventh into a run, then, in the eighth, the Rams got a solo homer from Taylor Miller, a double from Ross Elmore, and an RBI single from Diaz.

Weston Wood improved to 6-0 on the year with the win.  Wood allowed two runs on just two hits while walking one and striking out three in six innings of work.

Palmer went 2-for-4 with a double, while Vander Hey went 2-for-3 with a double and Miller went 2-for-3 with a homerun for the Rams.
