FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University head men’s basketball coach Terry Waldrop announced today the signing of his son Cody Waldrop, a 6’1” shooting guard out of Mansfield High School.
Cody was a two-year starter at MHS under coach Ritchie Alfred. He was an All-District selection in his senior season while leading the team to a 28-10 record and a 5A state regional quarterfinal appearance. He averaged 8.3 points per game and hit 84.5% of his free throws ranking him in the top-five in the DFW Metroplex in free throw percentage.
“Cody has grown up with college basketball,” Coach Waldrop said. “He has been in an outstanding high school program, and as a result has a very good understanding of the game. I think his toughness and work ethic are going to fit in really well here at Texas Wesleyan.” Waldrop added that he was proud of his son’s accomplishment and proud to be coaching him this season.
After winning the 2006 NAIA Division I National Championship, Texas Wesleyan posted a 19-10 record and was ranked 33rd nationally at the end of the 2006-07 season.
