EDMOND, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss at the hands of the University of Central Oklahoma, currently ranked 9th in the NCAA Division II national poll. The loss dropped the Lady Rams to 0-3 on the season while the Bronchos remained perfect at 6-0.
Junior midfielder Lacy Cooley scored three of UCO’s four goals in the contest. Cooley got the scoring started with a header off assists from Moriah Chinnock and Lindsey Hull just 3:29 into the contest.
The Lady Rams leveled the match in the 22nd minute when Nicole Richardson ripped a free kick from 25 yards into the back of the net. However, UCO took a 2-1 lead into halftime when Carmen Davis played a cross in front of the net and Cooley finished the score in the 34th minute.
In the second half, Lindsey Hull netted her seventh goal of the season and Cooley scored her third of the game to account for the 4-1 final.
UCO finished with 13 shots on goal while Texas Wesleyan managed just one. Brittany O’Brien played a strong game in goal under the offensive barrage from the Bronchos. O’Brien recorded nine saves in the loss.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action in search of their first win on Wednesday, September 13, when they travel to Belton, TX, to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by a men’s game. |
