MARSHALL, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s soccer team (2-7-2, 1-2-1 RRAC) suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Texas College (8-1, 4-0 RRAC) on Saturday.
Texas College scored the game’s first goal in the 15th minute. Five minutes later, Ryan Landers hit Eddie Hernandez on a corner keep for the equalizer. However, the Steers tacked on two goals and led 3-1.
With two minutes to play, Ben Smith, a freshman out of Grapevine, TX, converted a penalty kick for his first collegiate goal. The goal brought the Rams within one, but they could not complete the comeback.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action next weekend with their final home games of the season. The Rams will take on Southwestern Assemblies of God at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. They will celebrate Senior Day prior to their 3:00 p.m. game with Bacone on Saturday.
