MARSHALL, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team improved to 4-7 on the year and 2-1 in conference play after taking a 7-0 win at Texas College on Saturday.
Stephanie Blowers got the scoring started with an unassisted goal nine minutes into the contest. In the 33rd minute, Melody Overland found Shannah Bohon to give the Rams a 2-0 lead at the half.
The Rams dominated the second half, netting five goals in the period. Overland and Loren Clark put the game out of reach with goals in the 54th and 58th minutes.
Bohon finished with two goals and an assist. Fowler recorded a goal and two assists. Overland and Brianna McKernon each tallied three points on a goal and an assist. Blowers and Clark finished with one goal each.
“We really started to get it going in the second half,” said head coach Josh Gibbs. “At halftime we asked them to dictate play in the second half and they did that. This was a great game; everyone played and everyone contributed.”
Brittnay O’Brien, Holly Rowland, and Kelsey Lynd combined on the shutout in goal for the Lady Rams.
Texas Wesleyan will return to action next weekend with their final home games of the season. The Lady Rams will take on Southwestern Assemblies of God at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. They will celebrate Senior Day prior to their 1:00 p.m. game with Bacone on Saturday.
