SAN ANTONIO, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team completed play at the Rattler Invitational today. The event, hosted by St. Mary’s University at Pecan Valley Golf Club was won by Texas A&M University while the Rams finished in seventh.
The Aggies fired a final round of 288 to take the championship with an overall score of 862. St. Edward’s finished in second thanks to the strong play of Nick Cristea who shot a final round 69 and won the individual championship by six strokes.
Texas Wesleyan was led by Mitch Hendon who’s final round 74 put him in 11th place at five over par 218. Ryan Stephens finished at 226, Kevin Doskocil 227, Justin Smith, 228, and Will Woodring 230 for Texas Wesleyan.
Head Coach Kevin Millikan was looking ahead to the Rams next tournament. The Sleep Inn & Suites Classic at Coffee Creek is the final fall tournament for the Rams before spring ratings come out, and they will be facing numerous teams from Region VI. “That tournament two weeks from now will say a lot about our team,” Millikan Said.
The Sleep Inn & Suites Classic is scheduled to be played October 23 and 24 at Coffee Creek Golf Course in Edmond, OK.
