FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team (4-7, 3-1 RRAC) took a convincing 8-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University at Martin Field on Friday.
The Lady Rams had one of their most dominant games in the program’s history, holding the Lions without a shot. Meanwhile Texas Wesleyan ripped 49 shots including 27 shots on goal.
The Lady Rams scored early and often. They led 4-0 at the half and added four more in the second period. Nicole Richardson and Brianna McKernon each scored a pair of goals. Richardson added three assists to her performance. Allie Heafner, Heather Fowler, Shannah Bohon, and Andrea Almond also found the net. For Allmond, who is in her first season with the Rams, it was her first collegiate goal.
Lions’ goalkeeper April Francis finished with 19 saves. Three Texas Wesleyan goalkeepers combined on the shutout.
The Lady Rams will play their final home game on Saturday. The team will honor its seniors prior to their 1:00 game against Bacone. |
