FORT WORTH, TX: The Texas Wesleyan University volleyball team (18-7, 8-2 RRAC) moved into third place in the Red River Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University (18-5, 6-1 RRAC) in the Sid Richardson Center on Tuesday. The Rams cruised to the victory with scores of 30-16, 30-23, and 30-22.
The Rams came out with some fire in game one and would never trail in the match. They used a 12-2 run to open up a 19-8 lead and then rolled to a 30-16 win. In game two, six unanswered points gave them a 17-9 lead on their way to the 30-23 win. In game three they used a 7-0 run to take a 19-8 lead and closed out the match 30-22.
Sandra Ayala led the way with 17 kills. Erinn Miller put away 14 kills, and Liz Meng finished with 13. Jennifer Irwin contributed 48 assists and 13 digs. Jessica Colliau finished with a team-high 22 digs while Ashley Mock tallied 20 digs.
At 8-2 in conference play, the Rams now sit in third place in the RRAC standings. The Rams will return to action on Saturday, October 28, when they host Austin College. Texas Wesleyan will look to avenge a 3-0 loss from earlier this season. That match is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start.
