FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s Brianna McKernon was selected as both Red River Athletic Conference and Region VI Women’s Soccer Player of the Week last week. McKernon has led a red hot Rams offense that has outscored conference opponents 18-0 in their last three games.
McKernon, a sophomore forward from Mansfield, TX, scored four goals as the Lady Rams claimed a pair of conference victories last week. In an 8-0 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God University, she booted in a pair of goals, and she added two more as the Lady Rams edged Bacone, 3-0. McKernon has led a three-match winning streak for Texas Wesleyan with 11 points on five goals and an assist. The win over Bacone gave the Lady Rams sole possession of second place in the conference at 4-1 in conference play and 6-7 overall with one conference match remaining.
Texas Wesleyan will play its final regular season contest on Thursday when they travel to Houston Baptist University. The Huskies currently trail the Rams by just one game in the conference standings. A win on Thursday, would secure the second seed for the Rams in next week’s conference tournament. |
