FORT WORTH, TX: The Red River Athletic Conference has released its 2006 Women’s Soccer All-Conference awards. Five Texas Wesleyan University Lady Rams were among those honored.
Sophomore Brianna McKernon earned her second 1st-team award. After being named conference Newcomer of the Year last season, McKernon leads the team with 10 goals and is tied for the team lead with 22 points. She also ranks in the top-25 nationally in goals per game.
Shannah Bohon, Heather Fowler, Stefanie Blowers, Danielle Parks and Brittany O’Brien were all named to the 2nd-team.
For Bohon it was here first All-Conference selection. Bohon finished the regular season with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Fowler had an outstanding senior season and earned All-RRAC honors for the fourth time. With McKernon, she leads the team with 22 points, which ranks in the top-25 nationally.
It was also the first selection for both Blowers and Parks who led the TWU defense to four straight shutouts to close out the regular season. Goalkeerp Brittany O’Brien also earned 2nd-team honors after recording 68 saves and a 1.21 goals against average. |
