RAMS RALLY FOR SIXTH

EDMOND, OK:  The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team made up three positions in the final round of the Sleep Inn & Suites Classic on Tuesday.  The Rams shot 302 on a cold and windy day to move from 9th to 6th place in the field of 24 teams at Coffee Creek Golf Course.

Oklahoma Christian University, the host school, shot 293 to hold onto their lead.  The Eagles finished at 579 for the tournament.  OCU’s Rhein Gibson’s, also ran away with the individual title.  Gibson shot a final round 71 for a total card of 139.

Ryan Stephens led the charge for the Rams.  Stephens shot 71 on Tuesday to finish at 148 for the tournament.  Mitch Hendon shot 75 (151), Will Woodring 76 (161), Justin Smith 80 (157), and KeeDae Lee (83 (164) to round out Texas Wesleyan’s scores.

“We still had to make up an 80 on the card,” head coach Kevin Millikan said, “but, we did manage to make up a little ground in unfavorable conditions.
