BETHANY, OK: The Texas Wesleyan University women’s volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss in a wild match against Southern Nazarene University on Tuesday. The loss snapped a six-match winning-streak for Texas Wesleyan.
The Lady Rams jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in game one, but eventually fell 30-26. In game two SNU snagged a 7-1 lead, but the Lady Rams stormed back to take a 30-16 rout.
Unfortunately, the Rams came out flat in game three and fell 30-21. SNU was able to ride the momentum from game three to a 30-25 win in the decisive game.
“It was an emotional roller coaster,” said head coach Christy Clawson, “but we just have to adjust better than that in order to win.”
Sandra Ayala led the way with 19 kills and 10 digs. With one match remaining in the regular season, she continues to average a double-double with 13.9 kills and 10 digs per match. Liz Meng finished with 14 kills and six blocks while Erinn Miller added 12 kills of her own. Jessica Colliau led the team with 19 digs while Jennifer Irwin paced the squad with 37 assists.
Texas Wesleyan will host rival Houston Baptist University in their final regular season match on Friday. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Sid Richardson Center and will be preceded by Senior Day festivities. |
