FORT WORTH, TX: Texas Wesleyan University’s CJ Higginbotham has been named Red River Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week for his performance in last weekend’s season opener.
Higginbotham, a senior guard from Little Elm, TX, has moved into a starting role after being a key role player on last season’s National Championship team. In the season opener he posted a career-high 28 points in a 99-40 stomping of Dallas Christian University. In only 28 minutes of action, he sank 11-of-14 shots from the field including 6-of-8 three-point attempts. He also contributed a pair of rebounds and a pair of assists while topping his previous scoring high of 12.
Higginbotham shared the award with Jarvis Christian College’s Neville Storer. Storer scored 22 points in his first two games while leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 start.
