NORMAN, OK: The Golf Coaches Association of America has released its NAIA GCAA/Bridgestone Coaches Poll. The Texas Wesleyan University men’s golf team checked in at #9 after finishing 8th in last season’s NAIA National Championship.
Defending Champion Oklahoma City University was 2nd in the poll while Oklahoma Christian University took the top spot receiving all 10 first place votes.
Texas Wesleyan is the most storied golf program in the NAIA. The Rams have qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in 45 out of 52 years of membership. They share the record of six titles with Huntington College, and have finished outside of the top-10 just twice.
Region VI looks to be very strong again this season. Five teams from Region VI were listed in the GCAA’s top-25.
Texas Wesleyan will begin its spring season on March 5, when they participate in the Point Loma/Smee Builders Inv. at Steele Canyon in San Diego, CA.
