FORT WORTH, TX: The sixth ranked Texas Wesleyan University men’s basketball team (2-1) took a 112-65 blow-out win over Southwestern Adventist University on Saturday.
In the first half, Texas Wesleyan shot 54% (19-35) from the field and 53% (8-15) from long range on their way to a 53-30 lead at the break.
The offense picked up in the second half as the Rams shot a remarkable 74% (23-31) from the field and 58% (7-12) from three-point range. The Rams led by as many as 49 points as the issue was never in doubt.
The Rams out rebounded SWA 46-27; however, they did get whistled for 25 fouls that led to 18 points for Southwestern Adventist. For the game, Texas Wesleyan shot 64% from the field and 56% from beyond the arc while holding SWA to just 36% from the field.
Justin Loewe led the Rams with 25 points on 9-14 shooting including 6-10 from three-point range. Kelvin Williams finished with 20 points. CJ Higginbotham scored 19, and Evan Patterson Had 18. Meanwhile Nino Etienne flirted with a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists.
Southwestern Adventist was led by Francis Nicholas’ 19 points.
Texas Wesleyan returns to the Sid Richardson Center on Wednesday, November 15, when they host Parker College. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. |
